Scenic Sunday

Here's a scenic view of some of the remaining structures
in the ghost town of Bodie:
the brick Dechambeau Hotel and
next to it the Odd Fellows Lodge -
both erected in the late 1870's...

A great shot of what seems to have been a very ambitious beginning -

I LOVE Bodie. We got married in Tahoe & used to live in Mammoth Lakes, so this was just around the corner! Beautiful shot:)

We drove by Bodie on our Yosemite/Lake Tahoe trip, but didn't take the turnoff as it was raining. Now I wish we had! Oh, well...next trip! Thanks for sharing!

Fascinating, Linnea. I've only seen things like this in films. Love the new banner, by the way.

Those building fronts in the background have that old Western movie set feel. I like it.

What a neat looking place, reminds me of areas in Okieland, but sadly they're not as well preserved.

All you need is John Wayne on his horse. Nice one.

Ghost towns are so interesting, its always strange the things that are left and the things that don't stand the test of time. The road didn't survive it seems.
