On my drive home from Washington,
I was determined to make a short pit stop in Cottage Grove
instead of just zooming by on Interstate 5.
Look at what I found - a picturesque covered bridge!
This one is called Centennial Bridge and is only for pedestrians.
It was built in 1987 from the recycled timber of a dismantled bridge.

One of my favorite travel books is "Blue Highways" by William Least Heat-Moon, who took a soul-searching trip across America in the late 70s using only small roads colored blue on maps (that means no freeways, expressways, interstates). I've done countless road trips and as much as possible have stayed off the big roads. Your post today shows the rewards. What a unique bridge!
I saw a similar bridge on blogland. I remember it because I thought it was quite funny to have a roof. I was thinking it is was in Singapore, they would lock it up at night.
