Skywatch Friday

Last Friday the 13th we got treated to a marvelous thunderstorm.
Since skywatching is one of my favorite past times, I didn't hide away in my house. Instead, I rushed down to the dock at Washington Park and watched as the storm unfolded.

Here are three shots that I took over about an hour period of time.
Unfortunately I couldn't capture any of the lightning that was striking around me and across the water.
Amazingly enough, boaters continued to come and go as the storm passed over us.
When I got home, the power was out until 5 am the next morning -
it was worth it!

Happy skywatching wherever you may be!

You're braver than me, I won't go out in thunderstorms as people around here are killed by lightning every year. Of course, we get many of them in the summer. But your photos are gorgeous!

Oh, Linnea, these are SO gorgeous and such incredible colors! It's hard to find any more beautiful skies than we have in Washington, isn't it? You really did get some awesome captures! Enjoy your weekend!

Beautiful pictures, Linnea! I've moved to the other side of the Cascades and we've been having stormy weather here, too.

DEFINITELY worth it! (Since you made it through unscathed and with these gorgeous photos to show for it!) :-)

Don't you love it when you think a sky can't get any more breathtaking than it is - and then it does?

All three images are stunning! What's so interesting is the changes in lighting within the hour you took these. Thanks for sharing.

We had a wonderful storm today. I was so relieved. It was a terrible drought.
